Resumo: Open Access Institutional Repositories (IR) emerged in order to provide greater visibility and preservation of scientific production of universities and research institutions. One of the challenges of the IRs is operating its settlement, whose most frequent strategy is the storehouse of scientific literature conducted in a mediated way, mostly by libraries, or by the author (researcher). The decision on the deposit of scientific literature by the researcher is influenced by different laterality, which actors of the scholarly communication system (researchers, libraries, scientific publishers, managers of institutions and funding agencies). It is considered therefore that the establishment of filing strategies of scientific literature in IRs must take into account the perceptions that different actors in the scholarly communication system has on this issue. In this context, the reported investigation aimed to propose guidelines for the deposit of scientific literature in IRs based on the perception of the different actors participating in the scholarly communication system. From a methodological point of view, this is a study of qualitative approach and descriptive purpose. The research universe consisted of actors in the scholarly communication system. The sample was non-probabilistic intentional, based on criteria specific to each group of actors. The method used was survey. Data were collected through semi structured interviews, guided by specific scripts for each group of actors and then subjected to textual analysis. Among the results of the investigation, it was possible to identify aspects that stimulate and inhibit the deposit of scientific production in institutional repositories from which key elements were extracted and derived thirteen guidelines, based entirely on the perceptions of the actors.
