LGBT information and cultural heritage: mobilizations around Sao Paulo's LGBT Pride Parade

Objective: The paper investigates the mobilization for the patrimonialization of goods related to the LGBT community in Brazil and the way the Information field dialogues with this theme. It understands that, although in the last decades there has been a conceptual flexibility, when it comes to the selection, registration and diffusion of heritage related to the practices and cultural productions of the LGBT community, there are gaps, absences and silences. It uses as a case study the attempts to recognize the São Paulo LGBT Pride Parade as a heritage site.Methods: Exploratory research with qualitative approach, being analyzed two types of sources: (1) the scientific literature on the subject; (2) documents related to Bill No. 399/2017 of the São Paulo City Council and Bill No. 176/2015 of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo.Results: It explains the transformations in the notional field of Heritage, the place of LGBT heritage in the productions of the Information Science and Museology field in Brazil, and the mobilizations around the attempt to recognize the São Paulo LGBT Pride Parade as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the municipality and the state.Conclusions: The paper highlights the importance of conducting studies for the LGBT community in the fields of Information, Museology and Heritage, looking at the reverberations of heritage as an informational process.
