Resumo: http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1518-2924.2017v22n49p1 Discusses the application of netnography as a research method in Information Science. It describes the method, its origins, the first studies developed in Brazil, some features and differences from traditional ethnography, the possible fields of study and the main methodological steps. Analyzes five papers published in national journals of Information Science and a paper published in conference proceedings that used of netnography as a research method. Compare the methodological procedures used by the authors with the recommendations proposed in recent theoretical studies on netnography. Finally, make suggestions that may assist the researchers in defining the field of study, in the treatment of data and selection of relevant research topics in the Information Science.

Analisa quatro trabalhos publicados em periódicos científicos nacionais da área da Ciência da Informação e um trabalho publicado em anais de evento que indicam o uso da netnografia como método de pesquisa. Compara os procedimentos metodológicos realizados pelos autores com as recomendações propostas por Kozinets (2010, 2014) em estudos teóricos recentes sobre o método netnográfico.
