Resumo: The article shows that it is possible to implement a corporate portal using open source software, in an integrated manner with the proprietary MS Windows environment. As it is the real scenario in the vast majority of businesses and organizations today, a portal that meets these specific requirements is highly representative, mainly because MS Windows integration in the client environment (not in the server) is not trivial for an open source portal. The paper shows that, by deploying a portal in this context the company considerably moves forward regarding information management. To show this, the article focuses on the key positive aspects arising from the deployment of a intranet / extranet portal in that context, i.e., MS Windows integration; editing with MS Office or other similar applications; shared editing control (with check-in and check-out); universal web access; and the use of metadata and workflow.

Para ilustrar, mostra-se como é possível implementar com o Plone um portal corporativo utilizando-se de software livre, de forma integrada com o ambiente Windows, proprietário. Por tratar-se do ambiente presente na grande maioria das empresas e organizações da atualidade, um portal que atenda a especificidades da gestão de informação neste contexto, de forma integrada, é fortemente representativo. Com efeito, a integração dos conteúdos no portal com o ambiente Windows, no cliente e não no servidor, não é trivial. O artigo mostra que implantando o portal nesse contexto a empresa avança consideravelmente com relação à gestão da informação.
