World Cup, manifestations and the occupation of the public space

Resumo: Since the announcement of Brazil to host the FIFA World Cup in 2014, social movements organized themselves to denounce and question decisions and arbitrariness about their preparations. During the Confederations Cup of 2013, a series of manifestations marked by the diversity of its participants and their demands became known as the June Journeys. This article presents an analysis of such events focusing on matters relates to the occupation of the public space, problematizing, later, the relation of the movements and the mega sports events in question.

Durante la Copa de las Confederaciones de 2013, una serie de manifestaciones, marcada por la diversidad de sus participantes y de sus reivindicaciones, se quedaron conocidas como jornadas de junio. Ese artículo trae un análisis de tales acontecimientos en el que se objetivaron las cuestiones relativas a la ocupación del espacio público, problematizando, aún, la relación de los movimientos con la organización de los megaeventos deportivos que serán realizados en nuestro país. Desde o anúncio do Brasil como sede da Copa do Mundo da FIFA 2014, movimentos sociais se organizaram para denunciar e questionar decisões e arbitrariedades acerca de seus preparativos.
