Resumo: In response to violence, authorities as well as the population itself seem to believe in repression as the only possibility. Given that, this work aims to understand how the physical education teacher sees the promotion of a culture of peace in school environment. We start from a theoretical framework that analyses, at first, the phenomenon of violence, the school violence and it’s variations. Then we enter the Culture of Peace Promotion theme from a train of thought that believes if the culture of violence is built cultural and socially, the Culture of Peace may as well be built from intentionally planned actions. We make use of qualitative research, using as instruments: interview, field observation and the analysis of the Projeto Político Pedagógico. We found that the teachers are knowing of the Culture of Peace, but objective and intentional actions towards that culture aren’t, yet, taken.

Así, el presente trabajo objetiva comprender cómo el maestro de Educación Física percibe la promoción de la cultura de paz, en el ambiente de la escuela. Partimos de un referencial teórico que analiza el fenómeno de la violencia, la violencia escolar y sus diferentes aspectos. Y después, adentramos al tema de la Promoción de la Cultura de Paz, a partir de una línea de pensamiento que cree que, si la cultura de la violencia se construye cultural y socialmente planeadas, la cultura de paz también puede venir a ser construida, a partir de acciones planeadas. Utilizamos la investigación cualitativa, que usa como instrumentos de recolección de datos la entrevista, las observaciones de campo y el análisis del proyecto político pedagógico. Nos dimos cuenta que los maestros son conocedores de la cultura de paz, pero que las acciones objetivas e internacionales en ese rumbo, aún, no se ha desarrollado.  Em resposta à violência, tanto autoridades quanto a própria população parecem crer na repressão como única possibilidade. Assim, o presente trabalho objetiva compreender como o professor de Educação Física percebe a promoção da cultura de paz, no ambiente escolar. Partimos de um referencial teórico que analisa o fenômeno violência, a violência escolar e suas nuances. E depois, adentrarmos ao tema da Promoção da Cultura de Paz, a partir de uma linha de pensamento que acredita que, se a cultura da violência se constrói cultural e socialmente, a cultura de paz também pode vir a ser construída, a partir de ações intencionalmente planejadas. Valemo-nos da pesquisa qualitativa, que usa como instrumentos de coleta de dados a entrevista, as observações de campo e a análise do projeto político pedagógico.
