Resumo: This study is an initial attempt to assess the "Sports Training Program at School - Athlete at School" and is structured according to its wide three "lines of action", namely: encouragement and democratization of sports practices at school; development and dissemination of the Olympic and Paralympic values among students of basic education; and identification and guidance of young talents. In the case of the first two lines, the results show weaknesses, mismatches, and inaccuracies between the theoretical conceptual framework and the technical operational design. On the other hand, the last line confers identity and compliancy to the program, (re)directing the school and physical education to the old "game" of sports massification, and identification and selection of talents. Therefore, the considerations indicate the need to counteract the renewed risk of using the school, physical education, and educational sports policies in accordance with the desires and prerogatives of the sports sector stricto sensu.

En el caso de los dos primeros ejes, los resultados muestran debilidades, desajustes e imprecisiones entre el marco teórico-conceptual y el diseño técnico-operativo. Por otro lado, el último eje otorga identidad y conformidad al programa, (re)direccionando a la escuela y la educación física hacia el antiguo "juego" de masificación deportiva e identificación y selección de talentos. Por lo tanto, las consideraciones indican la necesidad de contrarrestar el renovado riesgo de instrumentalización de la escuela, de la educación física y las políticas deportivas educacionales en función de los deseos y prerrogativas del sector deportivo stricto sensu.O estudo constitui uma primeira tentativa de análise do Programa de Formação Esportiva na Escola – Atleta na Escola e está estruturado conforme seus três grandes “eixos de ação”, a saber: incentivo e democratização das práticas esportivas na escola; desenvolvimento e difusão de valores olímpicos e paralímpicos entre estudantes da Educação Básica; e identificação e orientação de jovens talentos. No caso dos dois primeiros eixos, os resultados apontam fragilidades, descompassos e imprecisões entre o marco teórico-conceitual e o desenho técnico-operacional. Por outro lado, o último eixo confere identidade e dá conformidade ao programa, (re)escalando a escola e a Educação Física para o velho “jogo” da massificação esportiva, identificação e seleção de talentos.
