Resumo: This paper offers some reflections on the insertion of women’s volleyball in the sports field from studies of Pinheiro (1995), Pizzolato (2004), Marchi Jr. (2004); Afonso (2004), Costa (2005), Vlastuin (2008) e Moreira (2009). Through a qualitative and exploratory research, we identify key points that have supported our sociological interpretation based on the theory of Reflexive Sociology of Pierre Bourdieu. We note that the historical and social changes of the women’s volleyball in the Brazilian sports field occurred between habitus built on historical effects of symbolic domination of men over women’s volleyball, legitimized their positions in the sports field.

Por medio de la investigación exploratoria con base en Pinheiro (1995), Pizzolato (2004), Marchi Jr. (2004), Costa (2005), Vlastuin (2008), Moreira (2009) y Afonso (2011), identificamos puntos céntricos que orientaron la interpretación sociológica fundamentada por la Sociología Reflexiva de Bourdieu. Constatamos que la trayectoria histórica del voleibol femenino en el campo deportivo brasileño se dio entre habitus construidos y legitimados bajo efectos de dominación simbólica del voleibol masculino, instauradores de las leyes de reproducción social y que reflejan su posicionamiento jerárquico en el campo deportivo brasileño.   O presente artigo oferece reflexões introdutórias acerca do posicionamento do voleibol feminino no interior do campo esportivo brasileiro. Por meio da pesquisa exploratória com base em Pinheiro (1995), Pizzolato (2004), Marchi Jr. (2004), Costa (2005), Vlastuin (2008), Moreira (2009) e Afonso (2011), identificamos pontos centrais que orientaram a interpretação sociológica fundamentada pela Sociologia Reflexiva de Bourdieu.
