Migrant children in Antofagasta (Chile): social inclusion and polyvictimization experiences

Resumo: | This article analyzes the tensions and opportunities that migrant children and adolescents experience in the processes of sociocultural inclusion that takes place in the city of Antofagasta, Chile, considering that contemporary migrations have had a great impact in the local society and culture, and has generated new challenges for social cohesion. The study goes in depth about the multiple violence experiences lived by migrant children under the approach of polyvictimization, the intersectional perspective and a critical vision of childhood. From the application of semi-structured interviews to migrant children and adolescents, their families, professionals and intervening actors that serve them, it is concluded that there are discriminatory and racist practices between peers; they endure direct and indirect situations of violence in their neighborhoods and communities; there are also situations of domestic violence and sexual abuse, mostly towards migrant girls. The multiple power hierarchies and inequalities operate in a discursive level and in the practices of diverse social agents, therefore, it is recommended that the intervention and public policy design take the regional migratory reality into account. |

El estudio profundizó sobre las experiencias de múltiples violencias que ha vivido la infancia migrante, desde el enfoque de la polivictimización, la perspectiva interseccional y una visión crítica de la infancia. A partir de la aplicación de entrevistas semiestructuradas a niñas, niños y adolescentes migrantes, sus familias y profesionales e interventores/as, se concluye que existen prácticas de discriminación y racismo en el grupo de pares; se viven situaciones de violencia directa e indirecta en los barrios y comunidades donde habitan; también se constatan casos de maltrato intrafamiliar y de abuso sexual. Las múltiples jerarquías de poder y desigualdad que tiene especificaciones respecto del territorio operan en un nivel discursivo y en las prácticas de los agentes sociales, por lo tanto, se recomienda que la intervención y políticas públicas tomen en cuenta la realidad migratoria regional. Neste artigo são analisadas as tensões e oportunidades que crianças e adolescentes migrantes experimentam nos processos de inclusão sociocultural que vivem na cidade de Antofagasta, Chile. O estudo se aprofundou sobre as experiências violentas diversas que a infância migrante vem sofrendo, a partir do enfoque da polivitimização, da interseccionalidade e de uma visão crítica da infância. A partir da aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas com crianças e adolescentes migrantes, suas famílias, profissionais e interventores/as, conclui-se que existem práticas de discriminação e racismo no grupo de pares; vivem situações de violência direta e indireta nos bairros e comunidades onde habitam; também constatam-se casos de maltrato intrafamiliar e de abuso sexual.
