Resumo: Abstract: Looking into the frame of Ricœur's philosophy, in which ontology is never detached from hermeneutics, whereby language acquires a consistent primacy, the present paper will investigate the ontological dimension implied in the symbolic language. If philosophy does not proceed directly towards being, but deals with the opacity of symbol and with its plurality of meanings, the reason is that the symbolic sphere represents a fertile source for outlining the power of language to reconfigure the reality of the world and of human action. However, the study of the relationship between the symbolic language and its ontological dimension requires the preliminary but central task to figure out a consistent frame for Ricœur's heterogeneous researches on the symbol. At that point, the way towards ontology will require to conjure up a transcendental level, that might enable us to anchor concrete symbols on a larger symbolic background and to found the ambiguity of meaning on reflection.

En effet, si la philosophie ne se dirige pas directement vers l'être, mais assume l'opacité du symbole et la plurivocité du sens que celui-ci héberge, c'est parce que la sphère des symboles représente une source féconde pour le déployement du pouvoir que le langage détient dans la réconfiguration de la réalité du monde et de l'action humaine. Cependant, la relation entre le langage symbolique et la dimension ontologique ne pourra être reconnue que si l'on cherche à esquisser un ensemble cohérent des analyses du symbole, au premier regard si hétérogènes chez Ricœur.
