Resumo: This works aims to analyze the emergence and fuctioning of the Industrial Hygiene Service in Bahia, as well as aspects related to health and diseases that affected workers. The analysis was carried out from sources such as reports from the Industrial Hygiene Service, reports from the Secretary of Health and Public Assistance, a scholarship card from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Annals of the Fifth Brazilian Hygiene Congress, theses from the Bahia Medical School and periodicals such as A Tarde, Diário de Notícias, and A Manhã. It is concluded that 1920s health services were created for workers as result of national and international interests, which expanded the network of assistance to workers in Salvador, Bahia.

A análise foi realizada a partir de fontes como os relatórios do Serviço de Higiene Industrial, relatórios da Subsecretaria e da Secretaria de Saúde e Assistência Pública, um cartão de bolsista da Fundação Rockefeller, os Anais do V Congresso Brasileiro de Higiene, teses da Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia e periódicos como A Tarde, Diário de Notícias e A Manhã.
