Resumo: This article presents an analysis of the experience of the social subjects of bumba meu boi from an approach that considers cultural manifestation as a form of black associations. It is considered that the cordões de bumba constituted important spaces for sharing experiences, struggle and search for citizenship and, as well as leisure and expression of religiosities. From the intersection of available sources, we will demonstrate how these men and women organized and articulated with each other, within their field of possibilities, within the scope of the game itself, as well as establishing relationships in other associative spaces.
