Resumo: This paper can be considered the initial result of my postdoctoral course in development next to the TIDD Program/ PUC-SP as a FAPESP postdoctoral fellow. This study will present a mapping of the concept of plays and games in order to understand: 1 – some differences between human plays/ games and animal plays/ games, 2 – what characterizes a play/ a game, and 3 – which kind of plays/ games can exist. This paper also intends to understand a play/ a game by means of its ludic aspects. When perceived from this perspective, a play/ a game is strongly marked by the act and impulse of a player that intends to play. This preliminary text does not claim to make a chronological study of plays and games’ history – what would be an infinite research. On the contrary, it presents a conceptual mapping from the moment where a play/ a game starts and can be understood as an analytical corpus for researches, that means, from the moment that some authors and thinkers started to think about plays/ games andcreate a “theory” to explain them, thus forming concepts and observing their operation in a society and even through human relations.

O presente estudo busca apresentar um mapeamento do conceito de jogo para compreender: 1 - diferenças entre jogos humanos e jogos animais, 2 - o que caracteriza um jogo e 3 - quais os tipos de jogo que podem existir. Este artigo busca compreender o jogo através de seus aspectos lúdicos, pois o jogo, quando visto a partir dessa perspectiva, aparece marcado principalmente pelo ato e impulso do jogador em jogar.
