Resumo: This text focuses on the challenges that the image produced by Artificial Intelligence brings to the universe of Photojournalism. It is a relationship that is intertwined with this historical time, marked by the circulation of false images. These have provoked intense public debate and mobilized institutional reactions, under the argument of contributing to the corrosion of democracy. Corrosion that affects, from another perspective, the credibility of photojournalism, sustained, historically, by its link with the referent, something that AI breaks. This and other tensions are addressed in the article, structured in dialogue with researchers and photographic image professionals.

Es uma relación que se entrelaza con este tiempo histórico, marcado por la circulación de imágenes falsas. Estas han provocado un intenso debate público y han movilizado reacciones institucionales, bajo el argumento de contribuir a la corrosión de la democracia. Corrosión que alcanza, por otro sesgo, la credibilidad del fotoperiodismo, sostenida, históricamente, por su vínculo con el referente, algo que la IA rompe. Esa y otras tensiones son abordadas en el artículo, estructurado en diálogo con investigadores y profesionales de la imagen fotográfica.  Este texto foca nos desafios que a imagem produzida por Inteligência Artificial traz para o universo do Fotojornalismo. Trata-se de uma relação que se entrelaça a este tempo histórico, marcado pela circulação de imagens falsas. Estas têm provocado intenso debate público e mobilizado reações institucionais, sob o argumento de contribuírem para a corrosão da democracia. Corrosão que atinge, por outro viés, a credibilidade do fotojornalismo, sustentada, historicamente, por seu vínculo com o referente, algo que a IA rompe.
