Resumo: the present article analyzes the construction of Shonda Rhimes' authorship position as a screenwriter in the television serial fiction market, highlighting the role of Grey’s Anatomy in the composition and consolidation of this position. Therefore, we examine key moments in Shonda’s history which defined her trajectory and choices in this market. Thus, we seek to demonstrate how Rhimes' perception of the specifics of series' production context was translated into strategies for consolidating the importance of writer's craft in the series' authorial role, in circumstances that promoted a greater degree of autonomy in the conduction of her stylistic and aesthetic projects.
