Resumo: From the proliferation of memes on social networking sites as a manifestation integrated to what we call (cyber) pop culture, we question the impact of these manifestations on journalistic narratives based on the premise of mediatization of activism. Through an exploratory research by journalistic sites and publications on Twitter, we analyzed occurrences of memes involving former president Lula, from March 4 to 17, 2016. We articulated a discussion about the relationship between media and contemporary activism, pointing to signs of how the mediatization of activism has been interfering with the definition and development of journalistic guidelines.
