Resumo: The article discusses the presence of the archive images in the cinema of Harun Farocki, German director whose work problematizes in general lines the forms of exercise of the power, are those that emerge of the geopolitical conflicts, are those that are spread by the most diverse social practices (forms of control and surveillance, technologies of production and circulation of images, strategies of consumption, information and advertising). From the film World Images and War Inscriptions (Harun Farocki, 1988), we sought to reflect on the relationship between archive images and the historical processes triggered by these records, noting how Farocki mounts images in films that evoke the past in its own materiality, that is, in its vestiges.
