Odontologia.O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar a eficácia da utilização exclusiva de luz violeta no clareamento dental, comparando-a com o clareamento de consultório convencional, feito com o gel clareador a base de peróxido de hidrogênio 35% associado ao uso da luz violeta. Um total de dez pacientes foi avaliado, de maneira que se analisou cada hemi-arcada separadamente. Nas hemi-arcadas direitas superior e inferior dos pacientes foi realizado o clareamento exclusivo com a luz violeta (Bright Max Whitening system, MMOPTICS, Brasil) enquanto nas hemi-arcadas esquerdas superior e inferior foi feita a associação da luz violeta com o gel clareador a base de peróxido de Hidrogênio 35% (Kit lase peroxide flex, DMC, São Carlos, Brasil). Conforme protocolo, realizou-se profilaxia, proteção dos tecidos gengivais e registro da cor utilizando espectrofotômetro (Easy Shade Advance 4.0, Vita Wilcos, Alemanha) e fotografias (D3000, Nikon, Japão). Uma matriz metálica foi fixada entre os incisivos centrais para que o gel clareador da hemi-arcada esquerda superior e inferior não extravasasse para o lado direito. O aparelho foi ativado por 60 segundos, seguido por uma pausa de 30 segundos, por vinte vezes, totalizando 30 minutos de sessão clínica, conforme indicação do fabricante. Ao todo, foram três sessões em cada paciente, com intervalo de sete dias entre elas. Ao fim do tratamento, a cor foi novamente aferida, por meio do espectrofotômetro e fotografias. Também foi analisada a sensibilidade dentinária pós-tratamento dos pacientes, através de um questionário (VAS). Diante das limitações desse trabalho e baseado na análise do ∆E dos dentes anterossuperiores analisados, o gel peróxido de hidrogênio associado à luz violeta (LED) obteve maior eficácia (alteração de cor) no clareamento dental e foi associado a maiores índices de sensibilidade dental do que o uso isolado da luz voleta, porém, a mesma apresentou resultados estatisticamente significantes no clareamento dental.The aim of the present study was to analyze the efficacy of exclusive use of violet light in dental bleaching, comparing it with the conventional dental bleaching, made with the 35% hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel associated with the use of violet light. A total of ten patients were evaluated, so that each hemi-arcade was analyzed separately. In the upper and lower right hemi-arches of the patients, exclusive bleaching was performed with the Bright Max Whitening system (MMOPTICS, Brazil) while in the upper and lower left hemi-arches the association of violet light with the 35% Hydrogen peroxide whitening gel (Kit lase peroxide flex, DMC, São Carlos, Brazil) was. According to protocol, prophylaxis, gingival tissue protection and color registration using spectrophotometer (Easy Shade Advance 4.0, Vita Wilcos, Germany) and photographs (D3000, Nikon, Japan) were performed. A metal matrix was fixed between the central incisors so that the bleaching gel of the upper and lower left hemi-archae did not extend to the right side. The device was activated for 60 seconds, followed by a 30-second pause, twenty times, totaling 30 minutes of clinical session, according to the manufacturer's indication. In all, there were three sessions in each patient, with interval of seven days between them. At the end of the treatment, the color was re-measured, using the spectrophotometer and photographs. We also analyzed the posttreatment sensitivity of the patients through a questionnaire (VAS).
