Relações Internacionais.A diplomacia científica é um conceito recente nas Relações Internacionais e se refere à intersecção entre a ciência, tecnologia e inovação e a atividade diplomática. Com a ascensão da China como uma superpotência no Sistema Internacional, o país passa a buscar maior inserção e poder brando (soft power), utilizando-se da CT&I como forma de criação de vínculos com diversos países, incluindo o Brasil. O objetivo deste trabalho é entender como a diplomacia científica chinesa se manifestou nas relações bilaterais com o Brasil no século XXI. Neste sentido é conceitualizado o termo Diplomacia Científica, identificada a estratégia chinesa a partir dos documentos oficiais do país e, por fim, identificado como essa estratégia se materializou nas relações com o Brasil neste século. A partir de uma pesquisa exploratória, com base em fontes documentais e secundárias, e abordagem qualitativa dos dados, demonstra-se que a China possui uma estratégia de diplomacia científica descrita no seu Plano Quinquenal e nos Planos de Médio e Longo Prazo de Desenvolvimento. Embora o Brasil não seja descrito como prioritário nos planos chineses, a relação bilateral foi muito facilitada pela pauta da CT&I, sobretudo na área espacial com o projeto CBERS. No entanto, observou-se que nos anos recentes a área de CT&I, que vinha apresentado crescimento significativo, perdeu espaço, já que nenhum ato bilateral relacionado foi firmado com a China desde o ano de 2015.Science diplomacy is a recent concept in International Relations and refers to the intersection between science, technology and innovation and diplomatic activity. With the rise of China as a superpower in the International System, the country begins to seek greater insertion and soft power, using ST&I as a way of creating links with several countries, including Brazil. The objective of this work is to understand how Chinese science diplomacy manifested itself in bilateral relations with Brazil in the 21st century. In this sense, the term Science Diplomacy is conceptualized, identifying the Chinese strategy from the country's official documents and, finally, identifying how this strategy materialized in relations with Brazil in this century. From an exploratory research, based on documentary and secondary sources, and a qualitative approach to the data, it is shown that China has a science diplomacy strategy described in its Five-Year Plan and in the Medium and Long-Term Development Plans. Although Brazil is not described as a priority in the Chinese plans, the bilateral relationship was greatly facilitated by the ST&I agenda, especially in the space area with the CBERS project.
