Relações Internacionais.Em meio a um período de forte abertura econômica, a partir da década de 1990 o continente americano tornou-se palco de diversas lutas contra o pensamento hegemônico do neoliberalismo. A proposta de criação da ALCA foi reflexo de tal cenário e também viu-se confrontada por uma articulação continental de resistência à sua implementação, que alavancou a fundação da REBRIP no Brasil. A partir dos estudos de Robert Cox e da Teoria Crítica das Relações Internacionais, a presente pesquisa tem como objetivo avaliar em que medida a REBRIP e as mais diversas organizações da sociedade civil do continente americano construíram um movimento que pode ser caracterizado como contra-hegemônico. Para tanto, foi utilizado o método hipotético-dedutivo em conjunto com o método histórico, sobretudo na análise de fatos, documentos da estrutura oficial de negociação da ALCA, bem como documentos da Rede brasileira. Foi verificado que a REBRIP é resultado de novas concepções em matéria de organização dos movimentos sociais, além do próprio fervor continental formado em oposição ao pensamento hegemônico dominante. A REBRIP possui, desde sua origem, forte potencial contra-hegemônico, enquanto, ao que parece, o movimento de articulação continental como um todo adquiriu esse potencial no decorrer do processo.In the midst of a period of strong economic opening, from the decade 1990s the American continent became the stage for several struggles against the hegemonic thought of neoliberalism. As a reflection of this scenario, the proposal for the creation of the FTAA emerged, which was also confronted by a continental articulation of resistance to its implementation. This, in turn, leveraged the foundation of REBRIP in Brazil. Based on the studies of Robert Cox and the Critical Theory of International Relations, this research aims to demonstrate that REBRIP and the most diverse civil society organizations in the American continent built a movement that can be characterized as counterhegemonic. Therefore, the hypothetical-deductive method was used together with the historical method, especially in the analysis of facts, documents from the official negotiation structure of the FTAA, as well as documents from the Brazilian network. It was verified that REBRIP is the result of new conceptions regarding the organization of social movements, in addition to the continental fervor formed in opposition to the dominant hegemonic thought.
