Resumo: The accelerated population growth in contemporary society brings more and more production of goods and, consequently, disposal. Polymers are inexpensive materials, and, therefore, extremely used daily, but, many times, their disposal is not done correctly, causing damage to the environment. The designer, as a generator of ideas and new products, participates in all stages of designing an artifact, from generation to the final destination of the life cycle. This article aims to present a possibility of recycling polymeric waste for domestic disposal in the production of contemporary jewelry pieces. The project presents a brief literary review on jewelry and polymers, the collection of this material and recycling tests. As a result, a polymer recycling technique was obtained for contemporary jewelry, in the development of a pendant.

Os polímeros são materiais baratos, e, por isso, extremamente utilizados diariamente, mas, muitas vezes, seu descarte não é feito de maneira correta, ocasionando danos ao meio ambiente. O designer, como gerador de ideias e novos produtos, participa de todas as etapas de concepção de um artefato, desde a geração até o destino final do ciclo de vida. Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma possibilidade de reciclagem de resíduos poliméricos de descarte doméstico na produção de peças de joalheria contemporânea. O projeto apresenta uma breve revisão literária sobre joalheria e polímeros, a coleta desse material e testes de reciclagem.
