Além disso, sintomas não motores estão presentes como a constipação, que pode afetar até 80% desses indivíduos. A constipação na DP está associada a uma redução da qualidade de vida, e seu tratamento adequado é fundamental para melhorar o manejo abrangente da doença. O tratamento farmacológico é comumente utilizado, no entanto intervenções não farmacológicas podem ser uma opção eficaz por não apresentar efeitos adversos. Sugere-se que massagem abdominal pode ser considerada uma intervenção para o tratamento da constipação em pessoas com DP. O objetivo do presente estudo foi reunir e analisar todos os estudos publicados sobre a utilização da massagem terapêutica no tratamento da constipação em pessoas com DP. Os artigos foram selecionados sem restrição de data em amplas bases de dados utilizando-se Descritores em Ciências da Saúde. Os resultados encontrados evidenciaram que somente 3 artigos foram encontrados na literatura sobre massagem abdominal no paciente com DP para tratamento da constipação. Alguns estudos mostraram melhorias nos sintomas de constipação com a massagem abdominal, mas não houve diferenças significativas em relação aos grupos de controle em termos de escalas de avaliação. No entanto, relatos individuais indicaram benefícios, como redução da constipação, movimentos intestinais mais regulares e menor uso de laxantes. A literatura atual sobre o uso da massagem terapêutica na constipação em pacientes com DP é escassa e caracterizada por limitações metodológicas. São necessárias mais pesquisas com rigor metodológico. Concluímos que as pesquisas encontradas na literatura são escassas e com baixa qualidade metodológica. Diante disto, concluímos que mais pesquisas com critérios rigorosos de qualidade metodológica são necessárias para o validar cientificamente abordagens terapêuticas não farmacológicas, de baixo custo e que podem ser realizadas pelo próprio paciente, familiar ou cuidador. Método mais abrangente e eficaz, reduzindo a dependência de tratamentos farmacológicos.Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic neurodegenerative condition that affects the motor system. In addition, non-motor symptoms are present such as constipation, which can affect up to 80% of these individuals. Constipation in PD is associated with a reduction in quality of life, and its adequate treatment is essential to improve the comprehensive management of the disease. Pharmacological treatment is commonly used, however non-pharmacological interventions can be an effective option as they do not have adverse effects. It is suggested that abdominal massage could be considered an intervention for the treatment of constipation in people with PD. The aim of the present study was to gather and analyze all published studies on the use of massage therapy in the treatment of constipation in people with PD. The articles were selected without restriction of date in wide databases using Descriptors in Health Sciences. The results showed that only 3 articles were found in the literature on abdominal massage in patients with PD for the treatment of constipation. Some studies showed improvements in constipation symptoms with abdominal massage, but there were no significant differences from control groups in terms of rating scales. However, individual reports have indicated benefits such as reduced constipation, more regular bowel movements, and less use of laxatives. The current literature on the use of massage therapy for constipation in patients with PD is scarce and characterized by methodological limitations. More research with methodological rigor is needed. We conclude that the studies found in the literature are scarce and of low methodological quality. In view of this, we conclude that further research with strict methodological quality criteria is needed to scientifically validate non-pharmacological, low-cost therapeutic approaches that can be performed by the patient, family member or caregiver.
