Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura.Zusammenfassung: Neben einer Übersetzung enthält die vorliegende Arbeit eine Interpretation der Erzählung “Das Fräulein von Scuderi” des deutschen Schriftstellers E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776-1822). Es werden Ansätze zur Interpretation dieser und anderer Hoffmann-Erzählungen aufgezeigt, die sich nicht auf die stereotype Taxonomie beschränken - eine Falle, in die die Forschungsliteratur über Hoffmann so häufig gerät. Während des Übersetzens vom Deutschen ins Portugiesische hoben sich einige Aspekte der Erzählung hervor. Diese Aspekte bestimmen den hier vorgestellten Interpretationsansatz, der sein Zentrum in den Ausdrücken des Charakters Cardillac hat, einer extrem unausgeglichenen Persönlichkeit, eines serial killer, aber auch eben eines Goldschmieds, das heißt eines Künstlers. Die Erzählung erlaubt unterschiedliche Interpretationen, die sich durch die Veränderungen der Hauptfigur ergeben und die wiederum in den Veränderungen der Erzählweisen ihre Entsprechung finden. Diese wuchernde Verschiedenartigkeit sorgt für eine gewisse Rätselhaftigkeit des literarischen Genres und erlaubt ein vielfältiges Spiel mit der Frage nach der Zugehörigkeit zu einem oder zu mehreren Genres. Die Dissertation umfasst drei Hauptteile: die Einführung in das Thema, die Übersetzung der Erzählung “Das Fräulein von Scuderi” und ihre Interpretation, die im wesentlichen drei Elemente berücksichtigt, nämlich das Thema des “Irrsinns”, die “formalen Metamorphosen” sowie der Künstler Cardillac. Mit der Entwicklung dieser Perspektiven, die ich für das Verständnis des Protagonisten für wesentlich erachte, wird eine Interpretation der Erzählung vorgelegt, wie sie sich für mich als Übersetzerin als schlüssig erwiesen hat.A proposta deste trabalho é apresentar uma tradução do conto "Das Fräulein von Scuderi", do escritor alemão E. T. A. Hoffmann, e analisá-lo, mostrando sobretudo as possibilidades de leitura desse e de outros textos do autor que não se limitem a um estereótipo taxonômico # cilada em que a literatura a respeito de Hoffmann com freqüência incorre. Durante o trabalho de versão do alemão para o português, alguns aspectos do conto se sobressaíram. Esses aspectos conduzem à proposta de leitura desta dissertação, centrada em feições do caráter de Cardillac, um indivíduo psicologicamente desequilibrado, serial-killer, e também ourives/artista. O conto parece permitir interpretações diversas que se constróem a partir das mudanças de caráter do protagonista, às quais correspondem alterações de gênero narrativo. Essa diversidade prolífera estabelece, então, um enigma do gênero e apresenta potenciais jogos com a pertença a um ou mais gêneros. A dissertação contém três partes: a apresentação do tema, a tradução do conto, "A Senhorita de Scudéry", e sua análise, que trata respectivamente da "Loucura", das "Metamorfoses formais" e do "Artista Cardillac". Ao desenvolver essas perspectivas, que considerei relevantes para o estudo da personalidade do protagonista, expresso minha leitura como tradutora de "Das Fräulein von Scuderi".Abstract: Apart from a translation this thesis contains an analysis of the tale “Das Fräulein von Scuderi” of the German poet E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776-1822). The text offers possibilities of an interpretation of this and of other tales of the author, which are not restringed to the stereotyped taxonomy, which is to be found in the research literature about Hoffmann so frequently. During the translation-process from German to Portuguese some aspects of the tale came in the foreground. These aspects determine the interpretation presented in this thesis, which has its center in the features of the character Cardillac, an extremely unbalanced personality, a serial killer, and in addition, evenly a goldsmith, i.e. an artist. The tale permits different interpretations, which are based on the various changes of the main figure and which find their correspondence in the changes of the ways of narration. This growing diversity leads to a certain enigmatic structure of the literary genre and permits a discussion about the affiliation to one or to several genres. The thesis covers three main parts: the introduction to the topic, the translation of the tale “Das Fräulein von Scuderi” and the analysis, which considers essentially three elements, i.e. insanity, the “formal metamorphosis” as well as the artist Cardillac.
