Tendo como principal objetivo inibir o canibalismo e consequentemente a mortalidade, além de favorecer o consumo de ração balanceada, uniformidade do lote e redução da quebra de ovos, melhorando o desempenho e as condições de bem-estar das aves durante a vida produtiva. Apesar de ser uma prática indispensável na indústria avícola ainda é um dos assuntos mais discutidos e contestados referente ao bem-estar animal. Diante disso, é necessário o estudo de métodos alternativos que sejam aceitáveis e, ao mesmo tempo, eficientes do ponto de vista produtivo. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência da debicagem através do tratamento por radiação infravermelha e do método de debicagem holandesa, nas fases de cria e recria. As aves foram distribuídas nas baterias de gaiolas conforme o método utilizado, sendo aplicados três tipos de debicagem: aves com tratamento por radiação infravermelha com placa 24/23, radiação infravermelha com placa 23/23 e debicagem holandesa. As variáveis analisadas foram peso corporal das aves (g), uniformidade (%), crescimento do bico (mm) e calo de bico (no). De acordo com os resultados, as aves com debicagem por radiação infravermelha (24/23) obtiveram melhores valores para as variáveis analisadas, além disso, não necessitou de uma segunda debicagem, dessa forma, torna-se uma alternativa viável e garante um maior bem-estar às aves.The beak or partial amputation of the bird's beak is a common practice and requires Brazilian industrial agriculture. With the main objective of inhibiting cannibalism and consequently mortality, in addition to favoring the consumption of balanced feed, batch uniformity and reduction of egg breaks, better performance and welfare conditions of the birds during productive life. Despite being an indispensable practice in the agricultural industry, it is still one of the most discussed and contested issues related to animal welfare. Therefore, it is necessary to study alternative methods that are acceptable and, at the same time, efficient in the productive point of view. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of the debate through the treatment by infrared radiation and the Dutch beak method, in the breeding and rearing phases. As birds were distributed in the battery of cages, according to the type of beak, three types of beak were used: birds treated with infrared injection with plate 24/23, infrared radiation with plate 23/23 and Dutch. The analyzed variables were body weight of birds (g), uniformity (%), beak growth (mm) and beak callus (no).
