Resumo: A new educational building will be designing for Academic Department of Civil Construction (DACC) of Federal Institute of Santa Catarina. The objective of this research is to evaluate, specifically for the new educational building of DACC, the potential of green roof for decrease the internal thermal load, and moreover for non-potable use of rainwater collected. This research method was divided in two parts: (1) evaluation of temperatures measurements under the drainage layer (expanded clay and gravel); furthermore, (2) the evaluation of rainwater quality. The analysis of physical-chemical evaluation of rainwater quality. As a result, the temperatures measured below the two draining layers are practically the same, but the quality of the water after passing the drainage layer of expanded clay presented worse results if compared to the gravel drainage layer.
