Trata-se de um distúrbio compulsivo associado a manutenção da pelagem, expresso através de um comportamento estereotipado e copioso, como a lambedura, que resulta em uma alopecia normalmente bilateral e simétrica. Essa afecção é predisposta principalmente por ansiedade e situações estressoras, como mudanças de ambiente, introdução de um novo animal, manejo inadequado e solidão. O diagnóstico é considerado reservado, e é realizado por exclusão de outras dermatopatias e observação de lambedura assídua. O tratamento é realizado através da terapia comportamental para corrigir a causa base, associado ao emprego de psicofármacos. Esse trabalho objetiva a revisão de literatura acerca dessa enfermidade, assim como descrever um relato de caso de um felino, fêmea, sem raça definida, com seis anos de idade atendido em uma clínica veterinária em Curitiba-PR em maio de 2022, apresentando uma alopecia bilateral simétrica em membros pélvicos e região abdominal e queixa de auto higiene excessiva. Na anamnese observou-se que a rotina em que a gata se encontrava era ociosa e solitária, e, após a exclusão de outras causas, recomendou-se modificação social e ambiental, além da terapêutica com Clomipramina e fitoterápico. O tutor e a paciente não retornaram à clínica, não havendo informações sobre a progressão do quadro.Psychogenic alopecia or trichotillomania is an uncommon condition in the veterinary medical clinic routine. It is a compulsive disorder associated with maintaining the coat, expressed through stereotyped and copious behavior, such as licking, which results in a normally bilateral and symmetrical alopecia. This condition is mainly predisposed by anxiety and stressful situations, such as changes in environment, introduction of a new animal, inadequate handling and loneliness. The diagnosis is considered reserved, and is performed by excluding other skin diseases and observing regular licking. Treatment is performed through behavioral therapy to correct the underlying cause, associated with the use of psychotropic drugs. This work aims to review the literature about this disease, as well as to describe a case report of a feline, female, mixed breed, with six years of age, attended at a veterinary clinic in Curitiba-PR in May 2022, presenting alopecia bilateral symmetrical in pelvic limbs and abdominal region and complaint of excessive self-hygiene. In the anamnesis, it was observed that the routine in which the cat was found was idle and lonely, and, after excluding other causes, social and environmental modification was recommended, in addition to therapy with Clomipramine and herbal medicine.
