Os ícones ortodoxos são analisados etnograficamente como mediadores e produtores de uma atmosfera pedagógica, formadora de uma nova sensibilidade entre os fiéis. A pesquisa aborda de maneira descritiva essas “coisas”, recorrendo a relatos de conversão de fiéis com diversos graus de imersão na igreja - clero, leigos e investigadores - e sublinhando a participação dos ícones nesse processo. A pesquisa é realizada por um pesquisador que também é membro do corpo da igreja e crente na fé lá praticada, incorporando aspectos desta trajetória ao texto e análise. Com base nesse duplo-pertencimento, a pesquisa traz à tona uma negociação entre a teologia, entendida como teoria nativa, e as teorias antropológicas, apresentando um diálogo entre a “presentificação” proporcionada pela iconografia e sua abordagem através da antropologia. Conclui analisando as categorias de “mentalidade salvífica” e “liturgia pedagógica”, que o autor considera essenciais para a compreensão da agência dos ícones no processo ortodoxo grego de conversão ou “metanoia".Based on the paradigm of "material religion" and focusing on “things”, this monograph investigates the work of Greek Eastern Orthodox Christianity iconicity in a church in Florianópolis. Orthodox icons are ethnographically analyzed as mediators and producers of a pedagogical atmosphere, forming a new sensitivity among the faithful. The research approaches these “things” in a descriptive way, using reports of the conversion of believers with different degrees of immersion in the church - clergy, lay people and inquirer - and highlighting the participation of icons in this process. The research is carried out by a researcher who is also a member of the church body and a believer in the faith practiced there, incorporating aspects of this trajectory into the text and analysis. Based on this double belonging, the research brings to light a negotiation between theology, understood as native theory, and anthropological theories, presenting a dialogue between the “presentification” provided by iconography and its approach through anthropology.
