Por isso a importância de realizar exames da ATM em crianças. OBJETIVO: avaliar o nível de conhecimento dos cirurgiões-dentistas da grande Florianópolis no diagnóstico e tratamento da DTM. METODOLOGIA: Aplicação de questionários com perguntas fechadas sobre DTM em criança em 48 consultórios da Grande Florianópolis. CONCLUSÃO: Os profissionais da Grande Florianópolis possuem conhecimento para o diagnóstico da DTM em crianças, porém não para realizar o tratamento. É necessária a inclusão de perguntas direcionadas ao assunto na anamnese e exames específicos durante o exame clínico inicial.INTRODUCTION: The temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a subgroup of orofacial pain. According to Bertolli et al (2008) (2), the signs and symptoms of TMD are smoother in children than in adults and the sooner it is diagnosed, the better. For this reason is so important conducting examinations of the TMJ in children. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the level of knowledge of the dentists of Florianópolis in the TMD’s diagnosis and treatment. METHODOLOGY: Application of questionnaires with closed questions about children’s TMD in 48 offices of Florianópolis. CONCLUSION: Professionals of Florianópolis have knowledge to diagnose TMD in children, but not to perform the treatment.
