From women to women: social support network for pregnant adolescents

Resumo: Aim: to understand the social representations of pregnant adolescents about their social support network. Method: it is a qualitative descriptive study. The research scenario were seven Basic Health Units of the urban zone of a municipality in the southwest of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Twenty-five pregnant adolescents in the third trimester of pregnancy, who made prenatal care, were the subjects of the study. The data collection happened from January to June 2016. A Minimum Relationship Map and a semi-structured interview were used as data collection technique. The data passed through the thematic content analysis. Results: the most significant social representation of support to the pregnant women was the maternal figure, followed by other female figures such as nurses, friends, sister-in-law, sisters, aunts and grandmothers. Conclusion: the support was offered predominantly by women. It is anchored in the attention and affection received by the pregnant women. Low representation of the male figure in the adolescent’s gestation was perceived.

Métodos: se trata de un estudio descriptivo cualitativo. El escenario de la investigación fueron siete Unidades Básicas de Salud de la zona urbana de un municipio en el sudoeste de Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Participaron 25 adolescentes embarazadas, en el tercer trimestre de gestación, que realizaban prenatal. La recolección de datos ocurrió de enero a junio de 2016. Se utilizó como técnica de recolección de los datos el Mapa Mínimo de Relaciones y la entrevista semiestructurada. Los datos fueron analizados por medio de análisis de contenido temático. Resultados: la representación social de apoyo más significativa a las gestantes fue la figura materna, en la secuencia de otras figuras femeninas, como las enfermeras, amigas, cuñadas, hermanas, tías y abuelas. Conclusión: el apoyo fue ofrecido predominantemente por mujeres. Este apoyo se ancla en la atención y cariños recibidos. Se observó la baja representación de la figura masculina en la gestación de las adolescentes.Objetivo: compreender as representações sociais de adolescentes grávidas acerca da sua rede social de apoio. Método: trata-se de estudo descritivo qualitativo. O cenário da pesquisa foram sete Unidades Básicas de Saúde da zona urbana de um município no sudoeste do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Participaram 25 adolescentes grávidas, no terceiro trimestre de gestação que realizavam pré-natal. A coleta de dados ocorreu de janeiro a junho de 2016. Utilizou-se como técnica de coleta dos dados um Mapa Mínimo de Relações e a entrevista semiestruturada. Os dados passaram pela análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: a representação social de apoio mais significativa às gestantes foi a figura materna, na sequência outras figuras femininas, como as enfermeiras, amigas, cunhada, irmãs, tias e avó. Considerações Finais: o apoio foi oferecido predominantemente, por mulheres. Este apoio se ancora na atenção e carinhos recebidos.
