The preface to Gota d’água: the foundations of a cultural interface project between intellectuals and artists in the Brazilian military dictatorship

Resumo: In the form of an essay on the Brazilian reality in 1975, the preface to the book Gota D’Água, by Chico Buarque and Paulo Pontes, presents itself as a manifesto announcing the project to articulate artists and intellectuals. This article analyzes the text in two directions. First, it explores the authorship of the preface. In addition, it examines the theoretical and political theater project to which the text refers. The analysis of the elements of this manifesto-project allows us to identify the experience and horizon of the authors of Gota D’Água, as well as the Brazilian intellectual-artistic field, which began to be (re)articulated in the context of resistance against dictatorship in Brazil.

O presente artigo analisa os sentidos desse ensaio, em duas direções. Em primeiro lugar, analisa-se a autoria mesma do texto, inclusive no que se refere à autorepresentação dos autores. Além disso, examinam-se as justificativas e as bases teóricopolíticas do projeto teatral ao qual o texto se refere, bem como os argumentos que apresenta para criticar a realidade social vigente naquele momento.
