The purpose of this paper is to reflect on violence and its consequences deriving from a military conflict in Paraguay in the late 1940s, presented through fiction tale in El prisionero (1953) by Augusto Roa Bastos. The article is composed of two main subdivisions: initially address an analysis of articulated fictional narrative with a critical and theoretical reading of the Paraguayan social structure of the twentieth century, paying attention to human relationships and family in ideological conflict on the times portrayed. The second section emphasizes the issue of war and violence starting from the theoretical assumptions about the critical theory of society, which addresses the particularities reported on your configuration and the fictional narrative of Roa Bastos historic event.
