Resumo: O mulo (1981), by Darcy Ribeiro, is the autobiography of Philogônio Castro Maya: a colonel from Goiás's hinterland that in face of the death decides to donate all his properties to an unknown priest, as a way of redeeming his sins. Densely narrated, the text is reminiscent of Grande Sertão: Veredas, with metaphysical and universal speculations among confessions of crimes, affective relationships and lessons of life from the protagonist.
