Resumo: | This paper analyzes the hybridizations of different aesthetical sources of Dias Gomes’ soap operas in the 1970s that relied on a negative hero as protagonist: Bandeira 2, O Bem-Amado e Sinal de Alerta. Tucão, Odorico and Tião are characters with bad morals lives, which can lead to alienation and anger, but they also are endearing, comic and promote identification. This ambiguity in the construction dates back to a diverse set of dramaturgical aesthetics: the comedy of manners, the Brechtian epic theater, tragedy, melodrama, farce, parody and satire. In the context of Brazilian military dictatorship, Dias Gomes sought to continue the project of a national-popular drama on television. If, on the one hand, these mixtures corresponded to the political and cultural communist platform for building a "broad front" of resistance to dictatorship and critique of conservative modernization, on the other, contributed to the modernization of Brazilian TV drama. |
