Analysis of maternal health indicators of a city in the South of Brazil

Resumo: The main purpose of this study is to verify the situation in the city of Santa Maria regarding the fulfillment of the goals established in the Program for Humanization of Prenatal and Birth. On this study we used the data available in Sisprenatal System, referring to the city of Santa Maria – RS, on the period between 2006 and 2013, accounting for 11.000 pregnancies. The variables analyzed were: Pregnant’s age, gestational age at the moment of entry to prenatal care, accounting of consultation, and puerperal consultation. From all the evaluated pregnancies, prenatal care started with gestational age above 17 weeks in 28.12% of it, in 21.22% six or more consultations were realized and excluding urine, blood glucose, ITB and ITT’s tests, on the first routine, all the others tests were made only in less than 50% of all the analyzed pregnancies.It was noticed that the city of Santa Maria does not meet the minimum indicators recommended by the legislation.

No presente trabalho foram utilizados os dados disponíveis no sistema SISPRENATAL, referente ao Município de Santa Maria - RS, no período compreendido entre 2006 e 2013, contabilizando 11.000 gestações. As variáveis analisadas foram: idade da gestante; idade gestacional de ingresso ao pré-natal; número de consultas realizadas; exames realizados e  realização  da  consulta puerperal. Do total de gestações avaliadas, o pré-natal foi iniciado com idade gestacional superior a 17 semanas em 28,12% delas, em 21,22% foram realizadas 6 ou mais consultas e com exceção dos exames de Urina, Glicemia, HB e Ht em 1ª rotina, todos os demais atingiram menos de 50% das gestações analisadas.
