Resumo: To evaluate the effects of 16 weeks of practice of the Pilates Mate method on performance tests on flexibility, gait, functional mobility, balance and strength of lower limbs of a group of elderly women. Method: This was a quasi-experimental study of 48 women (67.43 ± 5.55 years), divided into GPs: Pilates Group (n = 44) and CG: Control Group (n = 14). The instruments applied were: TAF = Functional elongation test; TUG = Time Up and Go; TUGm = Time Up and Go (motor); TUGc = Time Up and Go (cognitive); DGI = Dynamic Gait Index; TEC = Body Balance Test; SL-30seg. = Sitting and Lifting Test; FSST = Four-Square Step Test. Results: After 16 weeks of training, there was a significant improvement in GP performance in the TAF, TEC and FSST (p≤0.05) tests, with an effect size medium (d= 0,300). Conclusion: The Pilates Mate program was effective in broadening the levels of flexibility, static and dynamic balance, as well as functional mobility. However, training was not effective in improving gait performance, in a dual task and lower limb strength.

Método: Estudo do tipo quase experimental, realizado com 48 mulheres (67,43±5,55 anos), divididas em GP: Grupo Pilates (n=34) e GC: Grupo Controle (n=14). Os instrumentos aplicados foram: TAF= Teste de Alcance Funcional; TUG= Time Up and Go; TUGm= Time Up and Go (motor); TUGc= Time Up and Go (cognitivo); DGI= Dynamic Gait Index; TEC= Teste de Equilíbrio Corporal; TSL-30seg.= Teste de Sentar e Levantar; FSST= Four-Square Step Test. Universidade Federal de Santa Maria2019-04-16info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/3279910.5902/2236583432799Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria), Vol.45, n.1, jan.-abr. 2019Saúde (Santa Maria); Revista Saúde (Santa Maria), Vol.45, n.1, jan.-abr. 20192236-58340103-4499reponame:Saúde (Santa Maria)instname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMporhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/32799/pdfCopyright (c) 2019 Saúde (Santa Maria)info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessNascimento, Marcelo de MaioSilva, Paloma Sthefane TelesOliveira, Lucas Vinícius Ferreira Vieira de2019-11-22T14:15:19Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/32799Revistahttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaudePUBhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/oairevistasaude.ufsm@gmail.com || amanda.revsaude@gmail.com || beatriz.revsaude@gmail.com2236-58342236-5834opendoar:2019-11-22T14:15:19Saúde (Santa Maria) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)false
