Resumo: Evaluate the effects of whole body vibration (PV) on muscle strength and performance of Walk Six Minute Test (6MWT) in healthy elderly, allocated in Vibratory Platform Group (LWG) who underwent training in PV and Control Group (CG) not submitted to intervention. It was evaluated anthropometric profile, travelled distance in the 6MWD and muscle strenght of the lower limb through the Test 1 Repetition Maximum (1RM) before and after two months of intervention. 17 otherwise healthy elderly were evaluated (GPV: n = 7 and CG: n = 10) with 65.4 ± 6.6 years. There was a significant increase in the distance walked in GPV (p = 0.0001) and increased muscle strength of the hip adductors (p = 0.014) of the Pre (66.1 ± 22.8 kg) for the post workout (72 ± 20, 3 kg) and the pre knee extensors (46.4 ± 19.7 kg) for post-training (75.0 ± 16.5 kg). The VCI increased the functional capacity and muscle strength of the lower limbs from healthy elderly.
