Resumo: Objective: To analyze pulmonary function, functional capacity and body posture in asthmatic children and adolescents, as well as investigate possible association between these variables. Methods: Transversal study, in which clinical data were collected, besides being performed pulmonary function test, six-minute walk test (6MWT) and postural evaluation through photogrammetry, in asthmatic children and adolescents. Results: 40 asthmatics were included (11,4 ± 2,7 years), being 53,8% male and 46,2% female. It was seen to visualize that these subjects presented reduction of functional capacity, and it is possible that this reduction is associated to their pulmonary function and postural alignment, as well as reduction in Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF%), characterizing partially controlled asthma. Furthermore, important postural alterations were found, especially in what is referred to cervical spine and scapula posture, showing a high percentage of cervical flexion (77,5%) and anteriorization (95%). There were associations between pulmonary function and postural alignment (p<0,05). Final considerations: Reduction in functional capacity and alteration in posture of asthmatic children and adolescents were found, and the creation of strategies to reduce these alterations and improve the quality of life of these individuals is recommended.

Universidade Federal de Santa Maria2024-01-16info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/7033410.5902/2236583470334Saúde (Santa Maria); Vol. 49 No. 2 (2023): Revista Saúde (Santa Maria) Ano 2023; e70334Saúde (Santa Maria); v. 49 n. 2 (2023): Revista Saúde (Santa Maria) Ano 2023; e703342236-58340103-4499reponame:Saúde (Santa Maria)instname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMporhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/article/view/70334/63055Copyright (c) 2023 Patrícia Medeiros Shcmidt, Cibeli Ferreira Martins, Sônia Beatriz Scherer, Márcia Camargo Jardim Villela, Luana Paula Nava, Simone Lara, Anelise Dumkehttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSchmidt, Patrícia MedeirosMartins, Cibeli FerreiraScherer, Sônia BeatrizVillela, Márcia Camargo JardimNava, Luana PaulaLara, SimoneDumke, Anelise2024-03-08T17:47:14Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/70334Revistahttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaudePUBhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/revistasaude/oairevistasaude.ufsm@gmail.com || amanda.revsaude@gmail.com || beatriz.revsaude@gmail.com2236-58342236-5834opendoar:2024-03-08T17:47:14Saúde (Santa Maria) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)false
