Organization of care for oral and maxillofacial surgery and trauma in a health region in Rio Grande do Sul

Resumo: Objective: to describe and characterize the network of public oral and maxillofacial surgery and traumatology services in a health region. Methods: descriptive and exploratory, used as Datasus databases and a study sent online to oral health managers. The data obtained were tabulated in the Epi Data Entry program and in the Epi Data Analysis program. Results: Two reference municipalities were found for tertiary care service and three compounds for secondary service in the region of 22 municipalities. Considerações finais: Communication between these locations was not clear, as it was not a formal 4 methodology on which cities are the reference for a particular service. In addition, impasses such as the lack of valid indicators made it difficult to assess the demand for some professionals working in the region. Finally, there may be underreporting of the specialists' production due to the method of classifying the procedures and the disallowance of institutional documents.

Métodos: estudo, descritivo e exploratório, utilizou as bases de dados Datasus e um questionário online enviado aos gestores de saúde bucal. Os dados obtidos foram tabulados no programa Epi Data Entry e analisados no programa Epi Data Analysis. Resultados: Foram encontrados dois municípios de referência para o serviço de atenção terciária e três para o serviço secundário na região composta por 22 municípios. Considerações finais: A comunicação entre esses locais não ficou clara, pois não foi encontrada uma metodologia formal sobre quais são as cidades de referência para um determinado serviço. Além disso, alguns impasses como a falta de indicadores validados dificultaram a avaliação da demanda por profissionais que atuam na região.
