Traffic accidents with motorcycle attended by SAMU in a city in the North of Minas Gerais

The objective of this study was to describe the characteristics of victims and traffic accidents with motorcycles, assisted by the Mobile Emergency Care Service in the municipality of Porteirinha, Minas Gerais, in the second half of 2015. This is a retrospective, descriptive and quantitative documentary study. A spreadsheet was used as a data collection tool to consolidate the data collected in the Prehospital Care Records. Data were collected from March to April 2016. The results revealed a prevalence of male victims aged 20 and 29 years. The majority of accidents occurred in the months of September and October, during the night, in the countryside. The reason for the care was due to fall which had as main lesion excoriations in the upper limbs. It is concluded that there is a need for the implementation of educational and preventive measures aimed at educating and sensitizing the population, especially drivers about the dangers of driving motorcycles.
