FOOD CONSUMPTION OF PATIENTS OF A FACIAL AESTHETIC CENTER

Resumo: Objective: to identify the nutrients ingested by patients undergoing facial aesthetic treatment. Methods: it was a cross-sectional, descriptive, quantitative research. The study was carried out in an aesthetic clinic of an aesthetic medicine institute in the city of Sobral, Ceará, Brazil. The research was carried out in October and November 2017. Twenty adults who had undergone an aesthetic chemical peeling procedure 30 days ago participated. A validated food frequency questionnaire was applied and food consumption and frequency of intake were observed. In a specific form, the types of supplements used and unusual foods consumed were verified. The results were presented in graphs and tables and descriptive statistics were applied, containing total values, means and percentages. Results: there was a female predominance (85%); 55% gained weight; 20% used nutritional supplements; 60% consumed beef or pork; 45% never or rarely ingested animal fat; and all reported ingesting dairy products, hydrating fruits with a good amount of vitamin C and leafy vegetables. Conclusion: the investigation showed that there was a certain dietary balance in vitamins, minerals and proteins present in the patients' diet, being suggestive for a recovery of the skin after an aesthetic procedure.

Métodos: se trató de una investigación transversal, descriptiva, cuantitativa. El estudio se realizó en una clínica estética de un instituto de medicina estética en la ciudad de Sobral, Ceará, Brasil. La investigación se llevó a cabo en octubre y noviembre de 2017. Participaron 20 adultos que se habían realizado un procedimiento de peeling químico estético hace 30 días. Se aplicó un cuestionario validado de frecuencia de alimentos y se observó el consumo de alimentos y la frecuencia de ingesta. De forma específica, se verificaron los tipos de suplementos utilizados y los alimentos inusuales consumidos. Los resultados se presentaron en gráficos y tablas y se aplicó estadística descriptiva, conteniendo valores totales, promedios y porcentajes. Resultados: hubo predominio femenino (85%); 55% ganó peso; 20% usaban suplementos nutricionales; el 60% consumía carne de res o cerdo; el 45% nunca o raramente ingirió grasa animal; y todos reportaron ingerir productos lácteos, frutas hidratantes con una buena cantidad de vitamina C y vegetales de hoja. Consideraciones finales: la investigación mostró que existía cierto equilibrio dietético en vitaminas, minerales y proteínas presentes en la dieta de los pacientes, siendo sugerente para una recuperación de la piel después de un procedimiento estético.Objetivo: identificar os nutrimentos ingeridos por pacientes submetidos a tratamento estético facial. A pesquisa foi realizada nos meses de outubro e novembro de 2017. Participaram 20 adultos que haviam realizado procedimento estético do peeling químico há 30 dias. Foi aplicado um questionário de frequência alimentar validado e observado o consumo de alimentos e frequência de ingestão. Em um formulário próprio, verificou-se os tipos de suplementos usados e alimentos incomuns consumidos. Os resultados presentados em gráficos e tabelas e aplicou-se estatística descritiva contendo valores totais, médias e percentuais. Resultados: houve predominância feminina (85%); 55% ganharam peso; 20% usavam suplementos nutricionais; 60% consumiam carnes bovinas ou suínas; 45% nunca ou raramente ingeriam gordura animal; e todos relataram ingerir laticínios, frutas hidratantes com boa quantidade de vitamina C e vegetais folhosos.
