Resumo: Currently, concern for the environmentis presentin the lives ofmost of the population. The affection, understanding andresponsibilityare essentialvaluesin a process thatdepends on cooperation andvirtuesarenecessaryto combatour paradigmsand prejudiceswhen we portrayurban forestry. This articleportraystheenvironmental educationdevelopedby the Department ofAgriculture andthe Environmentin October2014in celebrationof Children's Daywith the distribution ofseeds, plantingguidelinesand donationsof seedlingsaimed at increasingurban greeningthe cityItapira-SP. Despite its importance,the subjectisrarely discussedand studied,especiallyin academia.The results showedthat the activitiesin this studycharacterizeplausibleactionswith regardto theawareness of childrenand familieson issuesrelatingto urban areasserving as a linkto participatein the constructionof cities andpreservation ofexistingtreesin this space.

A afetividade, a compreensão e a responsabilidade são valores indispensáveis em um processo que depende da cooperação e são virtudes necessárias para combater nossos paradigmas e preconceitos quando retratamos a arborização urbana. O presente artigo descreve as ações de educação ambiental desenvolvida pela Secretaria de Agricultura e Meio Ambiente no mês de outubro de 2014 em comemoração ao Dia da Criança com a distribuição de sementes, orientações de plantio e doações de mudas visando o aumento da arborização urbana do município de Itapira-SP. Apesar da importância, o tema é pouco debatido e estudado, especialmente no meio acadêmico.
