Resumo: The inequalities engendered by conventional international trade motivated the creation of the Fair Trade movement, with the purpose of benefiting producers from countries in the Southern Hemisphere. The growth in demand for products of this nature, however, attracted the attention of transnational corporations, authentic phenomenon of globalized capitalism. In this scenario, the article starts from the following question: How do transnational corporations act in the Fair Trade value chain? and its objective is to study the impacts of this action in the context of the movement. For this purpose, it uses the deductive method and uses the technique of bibliographic research, as from a qualitative approach of the studied object. The conclusion is that the entry of corporations into Fair Trade weakens it as a “movement”, in favor of a predominantly commercial perspective, which compromises their original values ​​and, consequently, their identity.

Sin embargo, la creciente demanda de tales productos atrae la atención de las corporaciones transnacionales, auténticos fenómenos del capitalismo globalizado. En este escenario, y considerando la actual transnacionalización legal, el artículo parte de la siguiente pregunta: ¿Cómo actúan las corporaciones transnacionales en la cadena de valor del Comercio Justo? y su objetivo es estudiar los impactos de esta acción en el contexto del movimiento. Por lo tanto, utiliza el método deductivo y emplea la técnica de investigación bibliográfica, a partir de un enfoque cualitativo del objeto estudiado. La conclusión es que la entrada de las corporaciones en el Comercio Justo lo debilita como un "movimiento", a favor de una perspectiva predominantemente comercial, que compromete sus valores originales y, en consecuencia, su identidad.As desigualdades engendradas pelo comércio internacional convencional motivaram a criação do movimento do Comércio Justo, com o propósito de beneficiar produtores de países do hemisfério Sul. O crescimento da demanda por produtos desta natureza, entretanto, atrai a atenção das corporações transnacionais, autênticos fenômenos do capitalismo globalizado. Nesse cenário, o artigo parte do seguinte questionamento: como as corporações transnacionais atuam na cadeia de valor do Comércio Justo? e objetiva estudar quais os impactos dessa atuação no contexto do movimento. Para tanto, utiliza o método dedutivo e emprega a técnica da pesquisa bibliográfica, partindo de uma abordagem qualitativa do objeto estudado.
