“In exchange of a wage that was little more than nothing”: systemic-symbolic violence and preacarization of work in Passageiro do Fim do Dia, by Rubens Figueiredo

Resumo: The article proposes a hypothesis of reading the narrative Passageiro do Fim do Dia, by Rubens Figueiredo, articulating the taxonomy of violence manifestations established by the philosopher Slavoj Žižek with the understanding that financial capital has become the hegemonic fraction of contemporary capitalist accumulation dynamic, aiming to investigate and explain how the artistic procedures of the narrative aesthetically formalize the historical-social process of the productive restructuring of capital in contemporary Brazilian socioeconomic dynamics, with regard to the precarization of work. In this way, the character Rosane is focused, demonstrating that the systemic-symbolic violence present in the narrative is characterized by the implications of precarious work and the fetish of the merchandise caused by the current logic of financial capital.
