Resumo: | This article aims to demonstrate how Great Devil in the Whirlwind: Uplandsaesthetically represents Brazilian cultural violence as the founder and destroyer of our identity, occurring in the sacrificial crisis of the rite of passage from divine-heroic time to a rational civil, historically, in the time of the Old Republic. A propaedeutic exegetical method will be used, drawing on poetic and sociological concepts, especially unity of all the rites of René Girard, cyclical history of Giambattista Vico and sacrificial crisis of James Frazer. With this, the rustic narration points out how the cowboy-warrior apocalypse contains the juice of our unique and multiform cultural identity. |
