Portuguese identity and history: two constant calls in Lídia Jorge’s work

Resumo: The article proposes a reflection about the fictional narrative of the Portuguese author Lídia Jorge, more specifically about some of her novels, looking at the recurrence of treatment to two indissociable themes: the accompaniment of different historical moments lived by the Portuguese society and the presence - as a interrogation – of the national identity, dialectical motto not only of it’s production, but of the greatest part of contemporary literary production of the lusitan country. Its critical support is given by the Narratology, post-colonial reviews and the Cultural Studies in order to enable an analytical exercise that may cover the first novel (1980) and the last (2011) as well, both published by the writer.
