Resumo: This text proposes a discussion regarding intertextual relations between Brazilian writer Carlos Dummond de Andrade’s poetic works and musical creations by songwriters Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso and Milton Nascimento. Drummond’s literature is marked by a singular rhythm. His ethical, political and social propositions worked as fuel for composers who became notorious during the second half of the 1960s. The poet offered important elements which contributed to the development of MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), including the creation of images which resound in several songs – often with different meanings –, as one may notice in the ideas contained in stone, path, crooked angel, wide world.

Universidade Federal de Santa Maria2022-12-06info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufsm.br/letras/article/view/6812010.5902/2176148568120Letras; n. 63 (2021): Poéticas interartes e cultura brasileira; 18-372176-14851519-3985reponame:Letras (Santa Maria.
