Resumo: | This paper is aimed at the importance of the reader in the configuration of the so-called postmodern parody, based on Linda Hutcheon’s studies. In contrast to the thesis of Wayne Booth, the reader of a parody simulates and conceals its actions, thus establishing permanent distrust in decoding the novelistic text. Theoretically, texts by Roland Barthes, Umberto Eco and Michel Foucault, among others, are revisited. Also the reader’s category is addressed, considering it as exemplary in the novel composition of the Portuguese writer Augusto Abelaira. Therefore, the role of the reader in Abelaira’s fiction is discussed, especially regarding the episodes of the book O único animal que? (“The only animal that?”). |
