Resumo: This article aims to assess the aspects that involve realism and violence in the work of Rio de Janeiro writer Ana Paula Maia. We understand, from the reviews and analyzes made on Maia’s work, that violence is constructed by the author as an aesthetic component in her texts, and that it takes place through realistic aesthetics. Thus, throughout the text we propose correct readings of the theories of the representation of the real and violence in dialogue with Maia’s work, so that we can investigate and prove that the violence silenced by the real is part of an aesthetic project by the Rio de Janeiro author.
