Resumo: | In order to detect spinal cord compression in dogs with intervertebral disc disease (DIVD) imaging is required, myelography is one of them, and requires general anesthesia to perform it. However, little is known about the influence of anesthesia time over this exam on intraoperative complications in decompression surgeries. There are no studies evaluating if longer anesthesia time during myelography influence on transoperative complications Therefore, this study aims to verify if the time of anesthesia during myelography with or without complete anesthetic recovery has an influence on the transoperative anesthetic complications of dogs submitted to thoracolumbar hemilaminectomy. Twelve dogs were included and randomly assigned to two groups of the same number called T1, when they underwent hemilaminectomy immediately after myelography, without complete recover from anesthesia and T2, when the surgical procedure occurred after a complete anesthetic recovery of the patient with a range of 12 to 24 hours. The parameters: heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (f), hemoglobin oxygen saturation (SpO2), mean arterial pressure (MAP), esophageal temperature and end tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO2) were recorded every five minutes for comparison between the two groups. The main anesthetic complications in dogs of the T1 group were hypothermia and hypercapnia and, in group T2, bradycardia. Complete anesthesia recovery between myelography and hemilaminectomy from dogs with DIVD was beneficial, resulting less transoperative complications. |

Porém, pouco se sabe sobre a influência do tempo de anestesia durante a realização desse exame sobre as complicações transoperatórias nas cirurgias descompresivas da medula espinhal. Não há estudos, no entanto, avaliando se o tempo prolongado da anestesia durante a mielografia pode influenciar nas complicações transoperatórias. Diante disso, o objetivo deste estudo foi verificar se o tempo da anestesia durante a mielografia com ou sem recuperação anestésica completa pode influenciar nas complicações anestésicas transoperatórias de cães submetidos à hemilaminectomia toracolombar. Foram incluídos 12 cães e distribuídos aleatoriamente em dois grupos de igual número denominado de T1, quando foram submetidos à hemilaminectomia imediatamente após mielografia, sem recuperação completa da anestesia e T2, quando o procedimento cirúrgico ocorreu após total recuperação anestésica do paciente com intervalo de 12 a 24 horas. Os parâmetros: frequência cardíaca (FC), frequência respiratória (f), saturação de oxigênio da hemoglobina (SpO2), pressão arterial média (PAM), temperatura esofágica e fração expirada de dióxido de carbono (EtCO2) foram registrados a cada cinco minutos para comparação entre os dois grupos. As principais complicações anestésicas nos cães do grupo T1 foram a hipotermia e a hipercapnia e, no grupo T2, a bradicardia.
