Resumo: | The present thesis aims at showing that the Stoic conception of human nature emerges as a point of divergence with the epicurean conception of human nature, and that from this divergence we have the cause of the distortion of the Epicurean Ethics made above all by the named ‘early Christian philosophers’. That way, we divided the thesis into three parts: a) the first part is devoted to the presentation and analysis of the concept of Nature in Stoicism, on the following points of investigation: (i) on the way the concept of Nature is conceived in the stoic Philosophy; (ii) on the origins and divergences of Stoic thought regard to the equation between ‘living according to Nature’ and virtuous being; (iii) Stoic criticism as to the enjoyment of pleasure in wise life; b) the second part of the thesis deals with: (i) epicurean physiology; (ii) Epicurus’ conception of the traditional Greek and Stoic religion; (iii) with pleasure and desire (epithymía) developed by Epicurean Ethics. In this second part we are also concerned with highlighting the points of divergence between Epicurean Philosophy and Stoic Philosophy, as well as to justify the claim that the criticisms and “distortions” made by Christian ‘philosophers’ to Epicurean Ethics were constructed under the basis of the criticisms and “distortions” made by the Stoics; (c) The third and last part of the thesis lies precisely on the ‘attack’ made by Christian ‘philosophers’ on Epicurean Ethics, based primarily on Cyrenaic Ethics as if it were Epicurean. In this context the main opponents of Epicureanism in the ascension times of Christianity are analyzed: Clement of Alexandria, Lactantius, Justin Martyr, Jerome of Stridon and Aurelius Ambrosius. |

In this context the main opponents of Epicureanism in the ascension times of Christianity are analyzed: Clement of Alexandria, Lactantius, Justin Martyr, Jerome of Stridon and Aurelius Ambrosius.A presente tese tem por objetivo evidenciar que a concepção estoica de natureza humana surge como ponto de divergência com a concepção epicurea de natureza humana, e que dessa divergência temos a causa da deturpação da Ética de Epicuro feita, sobretudo, pelos chamados ‘primeiros filósofos cristãos’. Nesse sentido, dividimos a tese em três partes: a) a primeira parte é dedicada à apresentação e análise do conceito de Natureza no Estoicismo, sobre os seguintes pontos de investigação: (i) sobre a forma como o conceito de Natureza é concebido na Filosofia estoica; (ii) sobre as origens e as divergências do pensamento estoico relativo à equiparação entre ‘viver de acordo com a Natureza’ e o ser virtuoso; (iii) sobre a crítica estoica quanto à fruição do prazer na vida sábia; b) a segunda parte da tese se ocupa: (i) com a physiologia epicurea; (ii) com a concepção de Epicuro a respeito da religião tradicional grega e estoica; (iii) com o prazer e o desejo (epithymía) desenvolvido pela Ética epicurea. Ainda nesta segunda parte, nos ocupamos em evidenciar os pontos de divergência existentes entre a Filosofia epicurea e a Filosofia estoica, bem como a justificar a afirmativa segundo a qual as críticas e “deturpações” feitas pelos ‘filósofos’ cristãos à Ética epicurea foram construídas sob a base das críticas e “deturpações” feitas pelos estoicos; c) a terceira e última parte da tese recai justamente sobre o ‘ataque’ feito pelos ‘filósofos’ cristãos à Ética epicurea, valendo-se sobretudo da Ética cirenaica como se fosse epicurea. Neste contexto são analisados os principais opositores do Epicurismo nos tempos de ascensão do Cristianismo: Clemente de Alexandria, Lactâncio, Justino de Nablus, Jerônimo de Estridão e Ambrósio Aurélio.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências Sociais e HumanasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em FilosofiaUFSMBrasilFilosofiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessEpicurismoEstoicismoÉticaNaturezaCirenaismoEpicureanismStoicismEthicNatureCirenaismCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::FILOSOFIAO conceito de natureza como ponto de divergência entre a ética epicurea e a ética estoicaThe concept of nature as a point of divergence between epicurean ethics and stoic ethicsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisSpinelli, Miguelhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4981522004554524Fuente, David Hernandez de lahttps://orcid.org/0000-0003-0960-7717Santos, Vladimir Chaves doshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/3506711960070476Silva, Jose Lourenco Pereira dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/8133358460835506Santos, César Schirmer doshttp://lattes.cnpq.br/4518010795079534http://lattes.cnpq.br/1434912990704229Santos, Rogério Lopes dos7001000000046001c9e7451-85d2-43b0-8a40-6378c85f8d9bd256f7c0-d3db-498b-833a-387d74eba5e36b1016df-1c7f-425a-adec-e312eb4189e10fbaa58f-a6a1-40fe-bfc0-e11c963b330272d3d2a1-7762-4261-aef4-f7597afdf93dfee738ae-afb5-4b85-8d95-80f0635a8dcdreponame:Manancial - Repositório Digital da UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALTES_PPGFILOSOFIA_2019_ SANTOS_ROGERIO.pdfTES_PPGFILOSOFIA_2019_ SANTOS_ROGERIO.pdfTese de Doutoradoapplication/pdf1579478http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/19930/1/TES_PPGFILOSOFIA_2019_%20SANTOS_ROGERIO.pdf348610d20c3396edc8659f0c240b1d2dMD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
